Position Summary As part of our IndigiKnow model, the Residential Treatment Nurse collaborates with the residential team at TTC, SIHB's service providers, including our Traditional Indian Medicine team, to ensure our relatives have appropriate access to health care services. They are the point of contact for relatives in the facility for medical intake, medications, laboratory services, health education, and to access health care services. Organizational Structure / Reporting Relationships The residential treatment nurse is employed by SIHB with services contracted to Thunderbird Treatment Center. This position reports to the SIHB Medical Director. Job Responsibilities Perform medical intake for residents entering the facility to include review of the most recent provider visit, medications, allergies, and any orders or accommodations needed. Oversee the medication observation program and the CLIA waived laboratory, including training, compliance, and oversight. Perform phlebotomy as needed. Assess relatives' health care needs and connect them to the appropriate level of care. Consult with internal and external providers, case managers, family, and other supports as needed. Ensure the release of information disclosure consent is collected as required. Provide health education to relatives as needed to meet their health care goals. Promote and model healthy behaviors, goal setting, and self-care. Ensure relatives have appropriate access to medical care. Refer to facilities that can provide the appropriate level of care, e.g., medical clinic, treatment, case management, dental, emergency room. Nursing care may include basic wound care, patient assessment, connection with resources, scheduling appointments, counseling, responding to medical emergencies, etc. Respond to medical and psychiatric emergencies following established protocols. Participate in the development, implementation, and training of emergency response protocols. Maintain a sanitary, well-stocked, safe, and secure environment in and around the nurse unit. Order and arrange for the transport of nursing supplies for the residential medical unit. Monitor medical supplies for expiration dates and replace as needed. Attend SIHB and community partner meetings as needed. Organize and present or coordinate outside experts to provide regular health topics for members and/or staff. Topics should be pertinent to the population. Actively participate in internal quality improvement teams and work with members proactively to drive quality improvement initiatives in accordance with the mission and strategic goals of the SIHB organization, partner organizations, federal and state laws and regulations, and accreditation standards, when assigned. Other job-related duties as assigned. Requirements State of Washington License as a Registered Nurse Current CPR/BLS certification required. Experience in behavioral health, psychiatry, substance use treatment, or residential care preferred. Strong crisis intervention and de-escalation skills. Knowledge of medication administration and psychiatric diagnoses. Excellent communication, documentation, and teamwork abilities. Understanding of trauma-informed and culturally responsive care practices. Preferred Experience or interest in working with the American Indian/Alaska Native population; knowledge of the health and social issues facing this demographic is preferred.
