The Sober Connection is seeking a Board-Certified Psychiatrist to serve as Contract Medical Director and Collaborator for Steele Creek Wellness, an Inpatient Mental Health Residential treatment facility in Jonesboro, GA. This hybrid part-time role requires a on-site presence of one half day weekly to attend a MDT meeting and provide clinical support.. This position is an independent contractor role focused on leadership and medical oversight without direct patient care involvement.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all medical services across programs, ensuring compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards
• Supervise and collaborate with Nurse Practitioners per Georgia state regulations, including chart review and clinical guidance
• Review, co-sign, and ensure timely completion of documentation in the EHR such as admissions, progress notes, orders, and discharges
• Approve, develop, and maintain medical and medication-related policies, procedures, and clinical protocols
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, case reviews, and care planning as necessary
• Contribute to quarterly Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement meetings and support audit readiness (CARF, Joint Commission, state)
• Provide remote consultation outside of on-site days for urgent clinical needs or provider support

Required Qualifications

• Medical degree (MD or DO) with Board Certification in Psychiatry
• Active, unrestricted Georgia medical license and DEA registration
• Professional liability insurance with minimum coverage of $1,000,000/$3,000,000
• Minimum of 1 year experience in behavioral health, addiction medicine, or similar setting
• Experience in detox, residential, or inpatient psychiatric settings preferred
• Strong knowledge of LOCUS criteria, withdrawal management protocols, and psychiatric best practices
• Ability to work independently as a contractor while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team

Preferred Qualifications

• Board Certification in Psychiatry
• At least 1 year of experience in behavioral health
• Active Georgia medical license and DEA registration
• Experience in psychiatry and behavioral health settings
