Surgical Authorization Specialist

Monitoring surgical case authorizations, the full-time Surgical Authorization Specialist will ensure timely and accurate processing of authorizations, verify patient information and insurance eligibility, and assist in surgical cost analysis, all while working remotely. Key responsibilities Monitor and obtain authorizations for upcoming surgical cases on physician calendars Verify patient demographic information and insurance eligibility, updating necessary information for claims processing Document authorizations and progress in patient charts, assisting surgery schedulers with urgent authorizations Required qualifications High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge preferred Minimum of 2 years of experience in the healthcare field, with a focus on referrals/authorizations Knowledge of eligibility verification and prior authorizations from various insurance providers Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook Strong organizational skills and customer service orientation
