The Senior Director will serve as a strategic partner for Clinical Development, Commercial, HEOR, Market Access, Regulatory, Field Medical, regional, and local medical teams, and external scientific experts. This leader will help translate emerging science into actionable medical strategy, shape multidisciplinary engagement across specialties, and ensure global-to-local alignment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead development and execution of the worldwide medical affairs strategy for cellular therapies across Neurology, Autoimmune Cytopenias, and other LCM therapeutic areas, ensuring alignment with portfolio priorities, cross-functional strategy, and emerging clinical evidence.
- Serve as the global medical affairs lead for assigned therapeutic areas, translating disease-area strategy, scientific insights, and clinical development priorities into clear medical objectives, tactical plans, and measurable outcomes.
- Partner closely with Clinical Development, Translational Medicine, Regulatory, Commercial, HEOR, Market Access, Field Medical, regional medical teams, and other cross-functional stakeholders to support evidence generation, lifecycle planning, governance milestones, and indication readiness.
- Shape and lead external scientific engagement strategies with global thought leaders, multidisciplinary experts, professional societies, patient advocacy partners, and other stakeholders to generate insights and inform medical strategy.
- Advance the scientific understanding of cellular therapies in Neurology, Autoimmune Cytopenias, and other LCM therapeutic areas by leading medical education, congress strategy, scientific communications, advisory boards, and expert forums in a compliant manner.
- Drive global-to-local knowledge transfer by developing scientific narratives, lexicons, training resources, medical materials, and communication platforms that enable consistent, high-quality execution across regions and markets.
- Support indication and ecosystem readiness by identifying specialty-specific barriers to future adoption, referral pathways, multidisciplinary care needs, patient identification considerations, institutional capability gaps, and opportunities to improve clinical practice excellence.
- Collaborate with evidence generation and HEOR colleagues to define medical evidence needs, support investigator-sponsored research and collaborative research opportunities, and ensure insight generation informs scientific strategy and future planning.
- Monitor the evolving scientific, clinical, regulatory, competitive, and treatment landscape across assigned therapeutic areas and translate key developments into actionable implications for BMS strategy.
- Lead, coach, and develop direct report(s), fostering accountability, inclusion, scientific rigor, strategic thinking, and strong execution within the Worldwide Cell Therapy Autoimmune Medical Affairs team.
- Represent Worldwide Cell Therapy Autoimmune Medical Affairs in internal governance forums, matrix teams, leadership discussions, and external scientific settings with executive presence and strong enterprise leadership.
- Ensure all medical affairs activities are conducted in accordance with BMS policies, applicable laws and regulations, and the highest standards of scientific integrity, ethics, and compliance.

- Advanced scientific or medical degree required; MD, DO, PharmD, PhD, NP, PA, or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 8+ years of experience in medical affairs, clinical development, translational medicine, or related pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical function; experience in cell therapy, immunology, neurology, hematology, gastroenterology, or autoimmune disease strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute medical affairs strategy across complex therapeutic areas, preferably in a global or multi-regional role.
- Strong understanding of cellular therapy science, clinical development, evidence generation, treatment delivery models, and multidisciplinary care considerations; direct experience with CAR T or other advanced therapies preferred.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and influencing strategic decisions across a matrixed organization without direct authority.
- People leadership experience, including coaching, development, performance management, and talent stewardship.
- Proven ability to engage external experts and translate scientific and clinical insights into strategy, education, evidence generation, and executional priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex scientific information into clear, balanced, and compelling narratives for internal and external audiences.
- Strong business acumen, strategic judgment, prioritization, and operational discipline, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-moving environment.
