General Manager

Homeowners do not buy a service call. They buy a house that is comfortable, safe, and fixed the first time. This role owns that promise across heating, cooling, plumbing, and electrical—and turns a growing multi-trade operation into a business that is staffed, scheduled, and profitable on purpose. What you build here becomes how every truck, seller, and technician shows up in the home.

Performance Objectives

• Deliver the agreed revenue, gross margin, and controllable-cost plan by running a weekly sales, dispatch, and job-cost review and correcting misses before month-end.
• Raise on-time arrival and first-time fix so callbacks drop and satisfaction and review scores meet the targets you set with ownership.
• Staff every peak-season truck with qualified technicians and installers, and hold productivity per truck to the standard you publish.
• Price, mix, and warranty work so replacement and service both earn their margin—without discounting problems that should have been prevented.
• Install a daily operating rhythm—dispatch board, safety checks, end-of-day close—that leaders run without you in the room.
• Cut repeat safety and quality failures by coaching the crews involved and removing the process that allowed the miss.
• Develop at least two department leaders who can run their book of business independently within twelve months.

Environment & Resources

You lead field service, installation, sales, and the office that supports them, and you report to ownership. Department leads, dispatch, and a shared fleet report through you. You control local hiring, scheduling, and pricing inside approved guardrails, and you own the labor, inventory, fleet, and local growth budget. You will use the service-management system, job-cost and P&L reports, and inbound demand from the marketing engine—not a stack you have to invent from scratch.

Essential Qualifications

• P&L ownership in residential HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or a closely related home-services operation, with results you can explain in numbers.
• A record of staffing and leading field teams through peak demand without trading away safety or first-time quality.
• Fluency in job costing, margin mix, overtime, and inventory—and a habit of changing price or process when the numbers slip.
• Experience putting a dispatch and performance cadence in place that technicians and sellers actually follow.
• Willingness to take the hard customer and warranty calls yourself when the standard is missed.
