Under the direction of the Department Manager, the Shipping Supervisor ensures the production of company products at the highest quality and at the lowest possible cost, meeting company policies and procedures. The Shipping Supervisor will act in a manner that is consistent with Gordon Aluminum’s Customer 1st Philosophy. This supervisor must be fluent in english and spanish. Hours will be from 2pm to 10pm (2nd Shift).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The general purpose of the Shipping Supervisor is to coordinate the daily workload, determines shipping schedules, and trains the shipping team in safety, accuracy, quality and efficiency. 

• Ensures a clean and safe workplace for the entire department. 
• Ensures the team is trained on the quality requirements for the parts handled. 
• Responsible for time reporting, attendance, evaluations and disciplinary or corrective actions. 
• Communicate effectively within the department as well as with the other production departments. 
• Constant communications with customer service to provide superior service to our customers. 
• Continually looking for opportunities for improvement. 
• Be a great decision maker and lead by example.

• Performing all work-related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Federal, State, and local standards and regulations. 
• Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding safety and standards of workplace behavior, in completing job duties and assignments

Supervisory Responsibilities 

Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  

Education and/or Experience

One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Skilled with the Microsoft Office applications. 

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, ora, diagram, or schedule form. 

Physical Demands

Physical Demands refers to the level and/or duration of physical exertion generally required to perform occupational takes (sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing and pulling).

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. Perform repetitive motion of fingers, hands, wrists, shoulders and upper body. Occasionally the employee with have to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, taste and smell.   

The employee will frequently lift up 10 pounds. The employee will regally lift up 25 pounds. Occasionally the employee will lift up 50 pounds. 

Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less), distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors), Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point), depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships), and ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).       

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather), and work near moving mechanical parts. Occasionally the employee will be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and outdoor weather conditions. 

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Hearing protection is required on the production floor.

Employee is expected to wear the required personal protective equipment when on the production floor.
