Ultrasound Technologist | 36 hours per week | Diagnostic Imaging

Minimum Hiring Wage: From $35.79 per hour. Sign On Bonus for Eligible Candidates: $15,000. Fully Benefit Eligible. Scheduled Hours: Day Shift, 9 hour shifts. Job Description Operate diagnostic ultrasound equipment to demonstrate anatomical or physiological structures of the human body for diagnostic purposes. Produce quality images as directed by the radiologists and physicians for the diagnosis or treatment of anatomic or physiologic disorders. Responsibilities Demonstrate knowledge of general and cross-sectional anatomy, technical factors, basic computer skills, and PACS. Function to work independently and in a cooperative manner in a teamwork-oriented atmosphere. Prepare patients for procedures by explaining the process, ensuring comfort, and obtaining relevant medical history. Perform General Abdominal Sonography, Vascular Sonography (Doppler), OB/GYN Sonography, Small parts Sonography, and other US procedures for all patient populations. Provide sonogram and oral or written summary of technical findings to physicians for use in medical diagnosis. Decide which images to include, looking for differences between healthy and pathological areas, and determine whether the scope of exam should be extended based on findings. Use a PACS Imaging System, observe screen during scans to ensure image quality, make adjustments as required, and select appropriate settings and patient positions. Maintain accurate patient records, including histories, sonographs, interpretations, correspondence, and quality assurance records. Qualifications Associate’s Degree (AA) from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology and/or Ultrasound program. Required American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). Required American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) upon hire. Basic Cardiac Life Support & First Aid – American Heart Association required. Child Abuse Iowa Mandatory Reporter and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter – Iowa Department of Human Services required. 1-3 years health‑care experience preferred. Iowa Permit to Practice required. Call rotation may be required. Technologist may work in other modalities as needed. Echocardiography skills strongly preferred at FM and HCHC campuses.
