Description

Provides support and assistance to eligible applicants/participants by performing nutrition activities related to nutritional risk factors, including selecting and providing basic and/or customized supplemental food packages to participants while providing individualized nutrition education based on the assessment of health and nutrition information obtained. In addition, performs applicant/participant eligibility and certification; provide explanation of the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program, its benefits, and basic nutrition education to participants; and enters and retrieves participation information in an automated information system.

Qualifications

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent. Associate degree Health or Social Services preferred
• Cross-training required to ensure the integrity of the WIC program.

• At least two years' experience in related field, preferred
• Spanish bilingual, preferred but not required
• Must obtain or remain compliant on nutrition or para-professional training curriculum
• Must obtain or remain compliant on blood pathology training
• Must be able to maintain a heavy caseload
• Must be able to lift 15 pounds
• Must be able to prioritize day-to-day operations
• Requires traveling to various WIC sites
• Must be a highly self-motivated individual
• Must maintain confidential records and data
• Must provide superior customer service
• Must maintain a professional attitude and appearance that positively represents the Nation
• Requires a high level of personal integrity and ethics
• Requires a high level of problem-solving skills
• Requires willingness and ability to learn new skills, including travel to conferences and training sessions
• Requires ability to use Microsoft Office Suite programs
• Requires good interpersonal communication and team work skills
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check
• Must be able to pass drug/alcohol testing
• Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record – will be required to drive GSA or tribal vehicles
