About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Med/Surg/Tele Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 Years Required License: NC or Compact License Certifications: BLS Required, CPI Preferred Must-Have: Charge nurse experience preferred for night shift travelers Must be able to work holidays Must pass EKG Testing prior to start for this specialty Description: The role requires a Med/Surg/Tele Registered Nurse. RTO after booking is not allowed, and any call-offs or additional RTO on the unit could lead to cancellation. The shift is 12 hours from 18:45 to 07:15. Travelers are expected to float within skillset to like units as needed. Every other weekend and holiday work is required. The nurse will care for adult and geriatric patients with general medical/surgical needs. The average daily census is approximately 43 patients. Special procedures include heparin drips and high-flow oxygen administration. There may also be limited short-term BiPAP with respiratory support, and no additional training is required. Contract staff are expected to work on storm or hurricane teams as necessary. All staff and travelers must attend unit team meetings scheduled for the fourth Wednesday of each month from January through October. In November and December, meetings will be held on the third Wednesday of each month. Additional meetings for night shift staff will occur on the Friday after the Wednesday meetings. The patient-to-nurse ratio is typically 1:6. All travelers and staff are required to adhere to a strict call-off policy. A teamwork approach and adherence to behavioral expectations are necessary in all interactions with patients and staff.
