Senior Data Engineer

Job Description

The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for leading the design, development, modernization, and support of enterprise data integration and data warehouse ecosystems. This role goes beyond traditional ETL development and will play a key role in modernizing legacy data platforms, reducing technical debt, and helping evolve the organization's data architecture strategy.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Informatica PowerCenter, Informatica Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC), ETL modernization, and data warehousing. This individual will work closely with business stakeholders and engineering teams to design scalable, maintainable solutions that improve data reliability, analytics capabilities, and long-term supportability.

This position will serve as a technical leader and mentor, helping establish best practices for data engineering, code quality, and platform modernization while contributing to an ongoing migration from on-premise Informatica environments to Informatica Cloud.

Responsibilities

-Partner with business and technical stakeholders to understand business objectives and translate them into scalable data solutions.

-Design, build, and support enterprise-grade ETL/ELT pipelines, integrations, and data warehouse solutions.

-Lead efforts to modernize legacy ETL architectures and reduce technical debt across the data ecosystem.

-Support migration initiatives from Informatica PowerCenter to Informatica Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC).

-Refactor large, monolithic ETL workflows into modular, maintainable, and scalable components.

-Design and implement complex ETL processes, data mappings, workflows, sessions, and database structures.

-Develop advanced SQL and T-SQL solutions, stored procedures, and performance optimization strategies.

-Establish and promote best practices for data engineering, development standards, code quality, and governance.

-Perform source-to-target mapping, data profiling, validation, testing, and deployment activities.

-Ensure data reliability, quality, maintainability, and supportability across enterprise platforms.

-Mentor junior and mid-level data engineers while providing technical leadership on complex initiatives.

-Evaluate existing implementations and recommend improvements aligned with modern data engineering best practices and business outcomes.

Skills and Requirements

-7+ years of enterprise Data Engineering and ETL development experience.

-Deep expertise with Informatica PowerCenter.

-Experience with Informatica Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC).

-Proven ETL modernization and migration experience, particularly moving from on-premise environments to cloud-based platforms.

-Strong experience with Teradata and enterprise data warehousing concepts.

-Advanced SQL/T-SQL development skills.

-Experience reducing technical debt, simplifying complex ETL architectures, and improving maintainability.

-Strong communication skills and the ability to partner effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.

-Demonstrated critical-thinking abilities and experience solving complex data architecture challenges.

-Ability to understand the broader business impact of technical solutions and make architecture decisions that align with long-term goals.

-Experience mentoring engineers and promoting development best practices.

-Strong culture fit with a collaborative, ownership-oriented mindset. -Led or played a significant role in an Informatica PowerCenter to IDMC migration.

-Experience modernizing legacy ETL environments without full platform rewrites.

-Demonstrated success breaking down large, complex ETL workflows into modular, scalable components.

-Experience reducing technical debt and improving reliability, supportability, and maintainability of enterprise data platforms.

-Proven ability to think beyond assigned tasks and understand how data solutions impact broader business objectives.
