Position Overview The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide comprehensive nursing care within a correctional healthcare setting while ensuring compliance with DOCCS policies, clinical standards, and regulatory requirements. The RN will be responsible for medication administration, emergency response, infirmary care, patient assessments, medical documentation, and coordination of care with healthcare providers. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical judgment, excellent assessment skills, and the ability to deliver high-quality patient care in a secure and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities • Administer one-on-one medications, including Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) medications, in accordance with physician orders and facility protocols. • Triage medical emergencies and provide immediate nursing interventions and emergency care. • Assess, evaluate, monitor, and provide nursing care to patients admitted to the infirmary. • Document patient assessments, treatments, interventions, and all medical encounters accurately and timely. • Conduct intake assessments for all new inmate admissions (in-drafts) and complete all required medical documentation. • Prepare medical records and required documentation for inmate transfers and out-drafts. • Transcribe physician and provider orders accurately and assist healthcare providers with patient care activities. • Order, monitor, and maintain adequate inventory of medical supplies and medications. • Participate in daily departmental activities necessary to support efficient healthcare operations. • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care. • Maintain compliance with infection prevention, medication administration, and correctional healthcare standards.
• Support quality improvement initiatives and perform additional nursing duties as assigned.

Work Schedule & Conditions • Six (6) Part-Time Positions Available • Night Shift: 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM (2 Positions) • Day Shift: 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM (2 Positions) • Evening Shift: 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM (2 Positions) • Alternate weekends and holiday coverage required • Overtime: Not required • Travel: Not required • Holidays: Required to work New York State holidays as scheduled

Qualifications & Requirements • Licensed and currently registered to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York • Experience in correctional healthcare, emergency medicine, medical-surgical, psychiatric, or acute care settings preferred • Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, emergency response, and patient care skills • Experience with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) and controlled substance administration preferred • Knowledge of nursing documentation, patient assessment, and correctional healthcare practices • Excellent communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary healthcare teams • Commitment to patient safety, quality care, confidentiality, and professional nursing standards

Background Check Requirements • Must successfully complete all facility-required background checks and security clearances prior to assignment

Vaccination & Medical Requirements • Must meet all facility medical clearance requirements prior to assignment

Required Training • Facility-specific orientation and training as required prior to assignment
