Full-time position. Salary $50,000. Responsibilities Recruit and train new school bus driver trainees. Coordinate and provide recertification classes for existing school bus drivers. Ensure all active school bus driver credentials are up to date. Perform as a substitute driver as needed. Guide prospective drivers through the online employment application process and obtain necessary documentation. Evaluate applicants through interviews and recommend hires to the Supervisor of Transportation. Instruct and train all trainees to become fully licensed in accordance with State, Federal, Local, and District policies. Schedule and coordinate recertification classes per PennDOT guidelines. Provide tutoring sessions in the yard or on the road to help trainees obtain full PennDOT credentials. Administer Entry Level Driver Training (EDLT) for new drivers and enter results into FMCSA registry. Assign responsibilities to other instructors. Maintain an electronic credential database to track expiration dates. Communicate regularly with drivers to keep documents up to date and comply with background check audit requests. Resolve driver credential issues with PennDOT and verify licenses biannually. Support drivers struggling with credential requirements. Perform substitute driving for shortage situations, with participation in field trips, athletic trips, and special education trips when available. Qualifications Certified Pennsylvania School Bus Instructor. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong database management skills.
