Speech Language Pathologist

Provide direct speech and language services to students in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and applicable federal and New York State regulations. Assess students’ speech, language, communication, and related needs through formal and informal evaluation procedures. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and instructional activities based on students’ identified needs and IEP goals. Provide individual and/or small-group therapy targeting areas such as articulation, receptive and expressive language, fluency, voice, social communication, pragmatic language, and functional communication. Monitor, document, and report student progress toward IEP goals and make recommendations regarding continued services and interventions. Participate in Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetings, annual reviews, reevaluations, and other student-related meetings as required. Collaborate with special education teachers, general education teachers, counselors, psychologists, administrators, paraprofessionals, related-service providers, and families to support student success. Consult with classroom teachers and other school personnel regarding strategies and accommodations to support students’ communication needs within the classroom and school environment. Maintain accurate and timely records, including evaluations, progress notes, service documentation, IEP-related information, and other required records. Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding students’ progress, needs, and recommendations. Identify and implement appropriate accommodations, modifications, assistive technology, and/or augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) strategies when appropriate. Support students in applying communication skills across academic, social, vocational, and community-based settings. Participate in multidisciplinary problem-solving and intervention processes for students experiencing academic, behavioral, social-emotional, or communication-related difficulties. Maintain confidentiality of student information and comply with all applicable laws, regulations, district policies, and professional standards. Maintain professional knowledge and skills through professional development, training, and collaboration with colleagues. Perform other related duties as assigned by the building or district administration.
