Registered Polysomnographic Technician (PSG Tech)

Location: Madison, Indiana 47250
Shift: 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM (Night Shift)
Duration: 13 Weeks+
Experience: Minimum 1 year in a sleep medicine setting

Job Summary

The Registered Polysomnographic Technician (PSG Tech) performs routine and complex polysomnographic recordings and sleep studies. The technician uses their knowledge of sleep-monitoring equipment and recording parameters to provide accurate testing and quality patient care.

The PSG Tech will perform PSG and CPAP/BiPAP testing efficiently and effectively, monitor patients throughout the study, and respond appropriately according to department policies and procedures. The ideal candidate can work independently, demonstrates sound judgment, and works well with patients and the healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex Polysomnography (PSG) sleep studies.
• Properly apply and connect electrodes and other monitoring equipment.
• Monitor patients throughout the sleep study and respond appropriately to patient needs or changes in condition.
• Perform CPAP/BiPAP titration according to department policies and procedures.
• Educate patients about the sleep study, sleep apnea, and CPAP/BiPAP titration process.
• Review all required patient paperwork and provide appropriate instructions.
• Disconnect patients from electrodes after the study and assist them as needed.
• Complete all required documentation accurately.
• Follow department and hospital-wide policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate independent judgment while working with minimal supervision.
• Maintain and improve technical knowledge and skills related to sleep medicine.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a sleep medicine setting.
• BLS certification required.
• Epic experience required.
• Must possess one of the following certifications:
  • RPGST – Registered Polysomnographic Technologist
  • RST – Registered Sleep Technologist
  • SDS Certification

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS certification preferred.

Minimum 1 year of experience in a sleep medicine setting. BLS certification required. Epic experience required. Must possess one of the following certifications:RPGST – Registered Polysomnographic Technologist RST – Registered Sleep Technologist SDS Certification
