Policy Intern - Albany at New York State Department of Public Service

The New York State Department of Public Service (DPS or Department) works to: ensure safe, affordable, and reliable access to electric, gas, steam, water, and telecommunications services at just and reasonable rates for New York State customers, protect the natural environment, reduce greenhouse gas emissions via transmission and siting of renewable energy resources, and augment the resiliency of utility infrastructure. Applicants should be enrolled in a graduate program and possess the following: Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong attention to detail and organization skills Ability to find, evaluate, and use information to solve problems Experience in data evaluation and analysis Duties Description: The Policy Intern will work in Executive Office and perform duties that include but are not limited to: Collaborating with the Executive Office and Department of Public Service staff to advance regulatory priorities and initiatives. Drafting briefing documents and reports on a range of policy and legislative priorities. Conducting research and analysis on utility regulation, ratemaking, clean energy, and electric and gas system planning. Supporting the development and implementation of policy and outreach initiatives Additional Information: Salary: $21.22/hour. Hours: Up to 30 hours per week.
