Healthcare Tech/CNA - Med/Surg (Richland)

Overview The Nursing Assistant assists professional nursing personnel in providing patient care. Under supervision, the assistant performs routine duties to aid nurses in treatment and care and general operations of the unit. The role follows established standards and practices at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital (CRMH). Qualifications Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire (American Heart Association). High School Diploma or GED. Completion of CNA coursework within the past 24 months, or successful completion of Carle's HCT in Training Program, or prior CNA experience, or at least one semester of nursing clinical experiences. Relevant medical/military training documented (if applicable). Responsibilities Answer lights and telephone with good guest relations manner. Pass trays and ice. Transport patients to other units/departments. Assist or perform complete hygiene care for patients of all ages. Maintain clean linens on patient beds and keep rooms clean and neat, disposing of linens and trash appropriately. Assist in preparing bodies after death. Support admissions, transfers, and discharge processes, ensuring rooms are ready for admits and post‑operative patients. Obtain intake and output data and document in the patient record. Assist patients in turning or repositioning in bed. Taken vital signs (BP, pulse, temperature, respirations) for all ages. Assist patients to bathroom or use bedpan/commode, keeping call light within reach. Perform Foley catheter care or removal as appropriate. Document all care in the patient record accurately. Provide bedside reporting at shift change. Participate in team rounding process, bathing patients, performing AM/PM care, oral hygiene, and checking basic needs. Compensation and Benefits The salary range is $17.89 to $28.98 per hour. Compensation depends on experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts, and model.
