Embark on a rewarding opportunity supporting students with developmental cognitive disabilities as an onsite special education teacher. Collaborate with a dedicated educational team to provide tailored instruction, guidance, and care for a focused group of learners in a positive elementary school setting. This contract role runs from late August 2026 through early June 2027, with a daily schedule of 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM (30-minute unpaid lunch), Monday through Friday, totaling 37.5 hours each week.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Minnesota teaching license with either Tier 3 or Tier 4 special education certification
- Experience—or strong interest—in working with students with Developmental Cognitive Disabilities (DCD)
- Strong ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with students, families, and school staff
- Organizational skills for managing a caseload of approximately 9 students
- Commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive classroom environment
Core Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver individualized instruction to students with developmental cognitive disabilities
- Develop and implement IEPs in compliance with state and federal guidelines
- Assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies to maximize learning
- Coordinate closely with paraprofessionals, therapists, and general education staff
- Foster a classroom culture of respect, engagement, and growth
- Adapt materials and curriculum to meet students’ diverse needs
