Queens Community House (QCH) is looking for a dedicated Program Assistant to join the team at the Queens Center for Gay Seniors (QCGS).The Program Assistant plays an important role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the QCGS location. Working alongside the Director, Assistant Director, Kitchen Aides, Case Workers, Program Instructors, and Consultants, you'll help create a welcoming and engaging environment where participants can access programs, activities, meals, and community resources.This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, staying organized, supporting community programs, and making a positive impact in the lives of older adults.What You'll DoParticipant & Clerical SupportWelcome and assist participants and guests in person and by phone.Provide accurate information and guidance regarding programs, activities, and services.Create, print, and distribute flyers promoting center programs, events, and activities.Process membership registrations for older adult participants.Scan and manually enter participant and program activity information.Provide general administrative and clerical support to the OAC team.Data Entry & Program DocumentationAccurately enter daily program activity units into STARS/Peer Place.Reconcile daily activity logs with system entries to ensure accuracy.Prepare and submit monthly reports of activity units and daily activity sheets.Work with the Database Manager to maintain accurate participant records and program data.Maintain confidentiality of participant and program information.Program & Center SupportAssist with setting up and breaking down meal spaces.Support meal distribution and other daily center activities.Assist staff and instructors with program activities and special events.Engage with participants and encourage participation in center programs.Support outreach efforts designed to increase participation and strengthen community engagement.Help maintain a welcoming, organized, and inclusive program environment.Professional Development & TeamworkParticipate in required trainings, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities.Adhere to QCH policies, procedures, and performance standards.Support program evaluation and quality improvement efforts.Collaborate with colleagues on the development of the annual training plan and other program initiatives.Perform other duties as assigned in support of the program and organizational needs.QualificationsWhat You BringHigh school diploma or equivalent required.Previous experience in an administrative, clerical, customer service, community-based, or senior services environment preferred.Strong organizational and time-management skills.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Comfortable interacting with older adults, staff, community partners, and visitors.Strong attention to detail and accuracy, particularly with data entry and recordkeeping.Basic computer skills and ability to learn program databases and other technology systems.Ability to work collaboratively as part of a diverse and multidisciplinary team.Commitment to providing respectful, welcoming, and inclusive service to all participants.Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive participant information appropriately.What You'll GetWhen you join Queens Community House, you become part of a passion-led, mission-driven organization committed to strengthening communities and enriching the lives of the people we serve.Eligible QCH employees have access to a comprehensive benefits package that may include:Medical InsuranceDental InsuranceVision InsuranceLife InsuranceFlexible Spending Accounts (FSA)Paid Family Leave403(b) Retirement PlanPaid Annual LeavePaid Sick TimeSpecified Federal Holidays OffProfessional Development, Training & Networking OpportunitiesQCH also supplements the New York State Paid Family Leave benefit to ensure eligible team members receive full pay during their approved leave.
