Millwright Position

Southern Industrial Constructors, Inc. seeks Millwrights for a project in De Soto, KS. Hired candidates will be considered for Benefits/Paid Time Off after 3-months.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepare precision line floor markings with 0.5 mm tolerances using theodolites, floor elevation recording and auto level. Ability to create and utilize proper benchmarks.
• Anchor drilling and installation (wedge and epoxy) up to 2" anchor diameter.
• Heavy machine moving using toe jacks, bottle jacks, push-pull jacks up to 88K lbs using rotating skates, straight skates, steering sections and forklifts.
• Precision leveling of machines using:
  • Metric system
  • Auto level
  • 0.02mm/1m machine levels (0.05mm/1m tolerance)
  • Dial indicators for paralleling (0.05mm tolerance) machines bodies and rolls
  • 0.02mm and above shims
  • Adjust bolts for rough leveling
• Familiar with machine drawings, spec sheets, anchor specs and slip sheets.
• Lift and carry objects of varying weights.
• Detect, recognize and respond to dangerous conditions or situations.
• Regular attendance is required.
• Significant travel may be required.
• Performs other duties as required.

  • Calipers
  • Filling gages
  • Sliding paper
  • Different types of jacks
• Skilled in both written and verbal communication.
• Complete all Safety and general job training as required by SIC.
• Observe SIC and Customer safety and quality processes and procedures at all times.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to effectively use all required PPE equipment and lift up to fifty pounds.
• Must be able to safely access all areas of property, buildings, structures, wharves, rooftops and other elevated positions, as well as, confined spaces.
• Strenuous physical demands are required to safely perform the essential functions associated with this position.
• Must be able to safely operate all involved equipment and tools.
• Must be capable of standing for long periods of time, bending consistently, working in confined spaces with limited access, on ladders, in personnel lifts, in workboats, and working in awkward body positions.

Work Environment

• Conditions include working in office, shop, busy traffic areas, warehouses, and undeveloped properties, with frequent exposure to dirt, dust, grease, oil, vibrations, and adverse weather conditions.
