Production Tech

Overview A Production Tech is responsible for all tasks involved with the initial planting of new production; transplanting plugs and sticking unrooted cuttings. In addition, the Techs will perform basic general labor. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Production Responsibilities: Plug Production Retrieve plug trays from greenhouse. Release plugs from trays using the Plug Popper. Feed empty trays into flat filler. Transplant plugs carefully into finished containers. Place planted flats onto carts. Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Production Responsibilities: Propagation Remove unrooted cuttings from boxes and place in trays under mist. Scout for any problems or issues with the URCs and propagation house. Dibble hole into Ellepot soil. Stick cuttings into the correct premoistened Ellepot trays. Place planted Ellepot trays onto tables under mist in the propagation house. Take cuttings from existing stock plants. Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Yard Responsibilities: Perform basic greenhouse maintenance and repairs. Merchandise, maintain and organize plants and inventory. Unload shipments of tropical plants, hardgoods, etc. Scout for problems with plants, equipment and structures. Handle product transfers. Attend the annual Pesticide Worker Safety class.
