Position Summary To coordinate, implement, and plan nursing care in a timely and accurate manner. Position Requirements Formal Education / Training: Earned a nursing diploma or degree from a college or university. Licensed in the State of Tennessee. BLS within 90 days of hire. For 3rd floor telemetry unit: Basic arrhythmia within 6 months of hire; ACLS within 6 months of hire. For float pool and float pool extended: Basic arrhythmia within 6 months of hire; ACLS within 6 months of hire; Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification within 6 months of hire. For critical care: Basic arrhythmia within 6 months of hire; ACLS within 6 months of hire; Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification within 6 months of hire; AACN, CCRN or CCP certification within two years of hire. For Oncology: ONS chemo/immunotherapy certification within one year of hire. For Adult Emergency Room: At least one year of emergency experience preferred; TNCC Preferred; ACLS within 6 months of hire; PALS within 6 months of hire; Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification within 6 months of hire. For Pediatric Medical Surgical: At least one year of pediatric in-hospital experience preferred; PALS within 6 months of hire; Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification (8‑hour, non‑physical training) within 6 months of hire. For Pediatric Emergency Room: At least one year of pediatric emergency experience preferred; PALS within 6 months of hire; ACLS within 6 months of hire; Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification (8‑hour, non‑physical training) within 6 months of hire; ENPC or TNCC within 6 months of hire. Workplace Experience: Adult Medical Surgical Patient Care Delivery Pediatric Patient Care Delivery Critical Care Patient Care Delivery Oncology Patient Care Delivery Adult Emergency Patient Care Delivery Pediatric Emergency Patient Care Delivery Equipment and Skills Training: Standard patient care equipment for services provided. Ability to work well under pressure, to function dependently and independently and to be flexible in applying basic nursing knowledge to a variety of settings. Equipment: Network Computer System; Omnicell Medication System; Telemetry; Pneumatic Tube System; AT&T Language Line. Physical Environment: Adult medical/surgical unit with patient population ranging from adolescent to > 99 years of age Pediatric medical/surgical unit with patient population ranging from neonate to 21 years of age Critical Care unit with patient population ranging from adolescent to > 99 years of age Oncology unit with adult patient population Adult emergency department with patient population ranging from less than one year of age to > 99 years of age Pediatric emergency department with patient population ranging from neonate to 21 years of age. Physical Effort: Able to communicate in English verbally and legibly. Requires prolonged standing and working for up to twelve hours a day. Able to stand/work for up to twelve hours a day. Able to lift with assistance up to 250 lbs. Key Results Performs a comprehensive assessment on all patients within the appropriate time of admission utilizing skills of observation, communication and examination; including data obtained from patient, family and other members of the healthcare team. Plans the patient's care on an individual basis, identifying problems/needs, nursing diagnosis, standards of care/practice, interventions consistent with identified problems and attainable outcomes. Plans for patient teaching, discharge and post discharge needs as appropriate for patient population. Functions independently with treatments, procedures and equipment appropriate to areas evidence by adherence to policy, procedure and competency based assessment and no pattern or trend of problem. Handles/transports/stores/prepares/administers medications/ solutions safely and in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Documents accurately and timely. Reassesses patient's condition, evaluates patient response and modifies plan of care accordingly and in a timely manner. Accepts charge responsibilities and assigns staff with consideration of patient condition and care requirement, acuity and complexity of patient's condition. Facilitates staff development. Maintains healing and therapeutic environment for the patient and family. Maintains position specific qualifications. Demonstrates responsibility for assigned communications and special assignments.
