The ICU Overnight Veterinary Assistant position will assist the hospital in delivering excellent care to all of our patients within the hospital. Perform Veterinary Assistant duties pursuant to WRAH Assistant Protocols. Embodies the culture in treating every client with the utmost courteous and attentive treatment possible, with a keen sensitivity to the emotional bond between owners and their pets. How you'll make a difference Monitor and appropriately document patient vital signs and activity Provide support to all veterinarians and veterinary technicians, and assist other departments as requested Provide comfort, diagnostic, surgical and nursing care to all patients including critical care patients Assist RVTs with basic, emergent, and critical care anesthetic monitoring Obtain and prepare samples for diagnostic testing including but not limited to blood draws, arterial blood gas sampling, cystocentesis, urinary catheter sampling and free catch urine Perform various laboratory procedures including but not limited to blood typing, cross matching, and slide agglutination testing Accurately take and process abdominal, thoracic, appendicular, spinal, and skull radiograph while following appropriate radiation safety protocols Properly use and maintain medical equipment Provide professional client communication What you will bring 2+ years working as a Veterinary Assistant, preferably in an ER/ICU or Urgent Care settting A strong desire to learn and apply knowledge/skills learned to daily work life Ability to communicate effectively both written and oral Ability to demonstrate technical procedures as outlined in the technician protocols Demonstrate reliability and follow-through with all work-related tasks / projects Schedule Looking for days, swings and overnights Specifics days and times are to be determined Salary $19.00 - $23.00/hour, based on experience $3.00/hr swing differential $5.00/hr overnight differential Benefits Uniformed provided and yearly uniform allowance Discount on veterinary care for your furry family Trupanion Pet Insurance Learning and growth opportunities Top-notch employee referral bonus program 401k retirement plan options with company match for full-time team members Medical, vision, and dental insurance options for full-time team members Basic life insurance provided at no cost and other benefit options available for full-time team members Paid time off and paid holidays for full-time team members Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital is Hiring… and so is everyone else.
