Director of Operation - West **MUST LIVE WITHIN DRIVING DISTANCE OF LOCATION*** About the Role Packaging Exchange is a national packaging and distribution company operating 25 locations across North America with a team of 400+. The Director of Operations - West - owns operating performance across every branch in an assigned region, leading the Regional Operations Managers and local Managers who run each site day to day. This role drives consistency, safety, and results across the region and reports to the Executive VP of Operations. We are looking for a hands-on multi-site leader who can hold branches to a common standard, coach the managers who run them, and balance service, cost, and safety across diverse operations. This role offers real room for growth in a family-oriented, fast-paced organization. Provide leadership and strategic direction for all regional managers and branches within the assigned territory (East or West). Partner with the EVP of Operations to execute national strategies while adapting to the unique needs of the region. Ensure operational consistency, regulatory compliance, and safety across all assigned branches. Oversee regional performance metrics, budgets, and long-term goals for operational improvement. Lead operational initiatives to improve efficiency, inventory management, customer service, and logistics capabilities. Collaborate with cross-functional departments (Finance, HR, IT, Sales, Procurement) to support strategic and operational goals. Identify and share best practices across locations to support nationwide alignment. Oversee capital projects, facility improvements, and technology upgrades within territory. Develop and mentor Regional Managers, building strong leadership pipelines and succession plans. Act as a key point of contact between senior field leadership and the EVP of Operations Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement across the region. Requirements & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Operations (Master’s preferred). Minimum 10+ years of progressive leadership in warehouse distribution or logistics, with at least 5 years managing multi-site operations. Strong ability to align tactical regional performance with overall company strategy. Proven record of managing complex logistics operations across multiple states or territories. Expert communication, leadership, and change-management capabilities. Skilled in financial analysis, budgeting, and operational planning. Ability to travel throughout assigned territory as needed. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Outlook, and Word, and with a warehouse management system (WMS) or ERP. Preferred Qualifications Experience managing multi-site operations across multiple states or territories. Experience launching, expanding, or integrating new facilities. Working knowledge of DOT and FMCSA requirements at sites with driver teams. Physical Requirements Ability to travel regularly throughout the assigned region, including driving and occasional overnight stays. Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods. Ability to regularly lift, push, pull, move, and carry up to 50 pounds Ability to perform warehouse duties involving standing, walking, bending, reaching, twisting, squatting, climbing, and repetitive motions throughout the workday.
