About the Position

Job Title: Med Surg RN - Rehab Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 (1900 to 0730), every other weekend and holiday Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Required Certifications: BLS (AHA) Must-Have: Rehab experience preferred for first-time travelers. Prior travel experience required for Medical Surgical nurses. No acceptance for first-time travelers without rehab experience. Charge nurse can take patient assignments. No floating requirements to other areas. Description: The position is for a Medical Surgical RN specializing in rehabilitation. The unit consists of 10 private rooms for patients with varying diagnoses. Common conditions include a high percentage of strokes, trauma, orthopedics, and neurological issues. Patients typically remain in this unit for an average of 10 to 14 days. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5. Registered Nurses are required to attend team conferences for acute inpatient rehabilitation. Nursing staff will have access to physical, occupational, and speech therapy resources. Registered Nurses will manage nebulizer treatments and inhalers overnight, while respiratory therapy will handle CPAP and BiPAP. Clean and professional scrubs are required. Traveling Registered Nurses may have opportunities to take charge nurse roles. Orientation and unit-specific training will be provided. Nursing staff is expected to clock in and out for their shifts.
