Telemetry Technician - Central Telemetry Department - Per Diem Level 1 - Evenings

Hourly Pay Range $19.31 - $28.00 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors. Position Highlights Position: Telemetry Technician - Central Telemetry Department Location: Arlington Heights, IL (main Hospital) Per Diem level 1 - Must be able to work at least 48 hours every 6 weeks and 24 of those hours must be on weekend time if needed. Hours: 3:00pm -11:30pm Required Travel: No What You Will Do Continually monitor and analyze patients’ cardiac rate and rhythm, with accurate interpretation of ECG (electrocardiographic). Document ECG measurements (PR, QRS intervals), rates and rhythms on computerized documentation and create the Medical Record document. Prepare rhythm strips for rhythm competent RN to approve. Upon approval, rhythm strips will be available in EMR for provider to visualize. Communicate to healthcare team the patient’s basic ECG rhythm and immediately notify the healthcare team of life‑threatening dysrhythmias. Monitor patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), by using the SpO2 monitors, as ordered by provider. Update each patient’s telemetry history to enhance the capabilities of our monitoring equipment, which then can accurately identify rhythms. Review the history of patient information at intervals, analyze ST segment changes and alert caregivers to significant events. Initiate and discontinue patients telemetry monitoring. Assess appropriateness of monitoring by evaluating stability of rhythm, duration of monitoring and knowledge of patient condition per healthcare team. Serve as preceptor/resource to orientees or students learning interpretation of dysrhythmias and function of monitoring equipment. Assume responsibility for identifying areas in need of improvement including work processes and monitoring equipment. Participate in audits regarding emergency notification procedure for telemetry. Inventory telemetry equipment daily, assist with restocking, and relay the need for additional supplies. Enter daily telemetry charges. What You Will Need The level of knowledge normally obtained through the completion of four years of high school. Participation in the studies of the field of Applied Science Cardiology or completion of paramedic program preferred. Completion of basic ECG interpretation course, with strong arrhythmia recognition skills required. Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology. The organizational skills necessary to simultaneously monitor the heart rate and rhythm of multiple patients and the ability to prioritize and complete required work during the shift schedules.
