Logistics Clerk

Position Summary: Supports day-to-day logistics operations for the Louisville distribution and manufacturing facility, ensuring inbound containers and outbound shipments move on time with accurate documentation. Works closely with carriers, brokers, and internal teams to prevent delays, accessorial charges and service failures.

Position responsibilities:

Inbound Container & Import Coordination:

  • Audit Drayage bills to SOP instructions
  • Audit all containers and drayage fees under direction of International Logistics Coordinator
  • Schedule and track inbound containers from port or rail to Louisville facility
  • Coordinate drayage providers for pickup, delivery appointments and empty returns
  • Monitor container status and escalate risks (demurrage, detention, storage, custom delays)
  • Verify import documentation with forwarders and customs brokers

Outbound Freight Execution:

  • Schedule pick ups (LTL, TL, parcel such as FedEx/UPS, where applicable)
  • Prepare and verify Bills of Lading (BOLs) and shipping documentation
  • Ensure shipments meet routing guidelines, labeling, and compliance requirements

Systems, Portals & Data Accuracy:

  • Enter shipment data into ERP (Epicor preferred), WMS and customer portals
  • Maintain accurate shipment records to avoid chargebacks or service failures
  • Confirm all documentation submissions and updates in portals
  • Use Excel for tracking containers, shipments and exceptions

Freight Exception Management:

  • Track shipments and provide updates to internal teams and customers
  • Resolve delivery issues, missed appointments or damaged freight

Essential skills and experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Strong attention to detail and document accuracy

• Ability to manage high-volume, time-sensitive logistics tasks

• Clear communication with drivers, carriers, brokers and internal teams

• Experience with ERP/WMS systems and shipping portals

• Working knowledge of Excel (sorting, filtering, basic formulas)

Preferred skills and experience:

• 1 plus years in shipping, traffic, or drayage coordination

• Experience working with Drayage carriers (port/rail containers), forwarders and customs brokers

• ERP experience, Epicor preferred

• Familiarity with BOLS, packing lists, commercial invoices, country of origin and import documentation and customer portals

Reporting to this position: No direct reports

Physical Demands: Subjected to lifting fifty (50) pounds, Repetitive bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, standing and sitting, with or without accommodation.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Combination of office and warehouse environments.

Hourly rate is based on experience.
