Scientific Programmer

Scientific Programmer Department: Biochemistry-0831 Within the UNL system, this position is categorized as a Programmer. Responsibilities Develop and extend the core computational infrastructure that underpins a multi-scale immune digital twin ecosystem and platform. Collaborate closely with product leadership to translate near-, mid-, and long-term roadmap requirements (3–6 months and 18 months) into clear technical specifications. Partner with the platform engineering team to implement backend simulation capabilities that enable automated testing, validation, and benchmarking of mechanistic submodels. Play a key role in enabling seamless integration of the core framework into a broader research and platform environment, ensuring robustness, scalability, and maintainability as the infrastructure evolves to support research, translational, and educational use cases. Prepare text and images for manuscript and publication submissions. Prepare detailed documentation, user guides and training materials for the use of developed simulation tools. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in computer science, physics or related sciences field plus two years of scientific software development experience. Experience with programming in Python, Matlab, or R. Experience with designing scientific algorithms. Experience with advanced and skilled research procedures, including advanced data collection, analysis, and report writing skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience in technical scientific software development and multiscale biophysics modeling.
