Position Summary Department: Orlando Health Medical Group - Urology Title: RN, Acute Care Shift: Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm Status: Full-Time | 40 hours per week Address: 32 W GORE ST, ORLANDO, FL 32806 Urinary Catheter Insertion Specialist is responsible for managing urinary catheter placements across inpatient units. This role serves as a dedicated resource for catheter insertions, reducing delays in treatment and alleviating procedural burden on inpatient urology physicians and hospitalist advanced practice providers (APPs). The RN collaborates closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure timely, safe, and efficient patient care. Responsibilities Assess patient’s needs and develop or revise individualized plans of care based on needs and responses. Evaluate patient’s progress toward expected outcomes. Respect diversity by building respectful relationships with all team members and customers. Act as a patient and family advocate. Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit/department. Serve as a preceptor, charge nurse, unit educator, and/or nurse clinician. Communicate and collaborate with medical staff and interdisciplinary team to effectively plan and manage the unit/department. Serve as a role model for staff and support the hospital and nursing department’s goals and strategies. Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, assess data reflective of the patient’s status, and interpret the necessary information to identify each patient’s requirements relative to age‑specific needs. Coordinate care and delegate as appropriate to other team members on a defined group of patients. Document patient care in a knowledgeable, skillful, and consistent manner meeting all required and regulatory standards, including patient assessment, education, medication administration, treatments, and patient safety. Demonstrate competency in nursing skills and use of patient care/unit equipment as defined by unit/department‑specific requisites. Prioritize patient care in an ongoing manner in accordance with Evidence‑Based Practice Standards of Care. Practice effective problem identification and resolution. Delegate tasks and duties to healthcare team members in accordance with patient’s needs and team member’s capacities. Capabilities and Qualifications Communicate appropriate information regarding patient condition or unit concerns to other health care team members. Provide a compassionate and therapeutic environment for patients and their families. Be aware of legal issues and patients’ rights. Collaborate with the education department and nursing leadership team to transition and support new team members or students. Maintain reasonable regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards. Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Education / Training Graduate of an approved school of nursing. Meet all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Orlando Health and unit/department. Licensure / Certification Maintain a current State of Florida RN license or a valid eNLC/Multistate RN license. Maintain a current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification. Hold ACLS, NRP, PALS, and TNCC certifications as required for certain areas. NRP is required for Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
