Special Education Teacher | Harvey, Louisiana

Job Description

Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students as a dedicated Special Education Teacher in a contract role for the academic year. This position offers the chance to work in a school environment near Harvey, LA, providing support to students with diverse learning needs in a collaborative and resourceful setting. The assignment runs from August 3, 2026, through May 27, 2027, with a schedule of 35 hours per week.

Ideal candidates bring a passion for inclusive education and are ready to begin without delay, holding all required certifications for the state of Louisiana. You will be supported through a thorough credentialing process and will have an impact on students’ growth and development every day.

What we’re seeking:

Current, active Louisiana DOE certification with Special Education endorsement
Only fully certified (no TA/TAT) Special Education Teachers considered
Previous experience in a school or classroom setting preferred
Ability to pass a district-required drug screen and fingerprint background check
Readiness to fulfill all credentialing requirements promptly

Key responsibilities:

Delivering specialized instruction and support to students on caseload (age group and specific assignment to be determined)
Developing and implementing IEPs in collaboration with staff and families
Adapting curriculum and teaching strategies based on individual student needs
Maintaining thorough and accurate student records, progress notes, and reports
Participating in professional development and ongoing communication with colleagues and administrators
