Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Neuro Acute Epilepsy Monitoring Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: Level 1 trauma experience, strong critical thinking and assessment skills Description: MUST HAVE LEVEL 1 TRAUMA EXPERIENCE. Candidates within a 50-mile radius rule are preferred. Medical prescreening is required. Candidates must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance. Travel team members are required to have their own vehicles. Natural hair color and no facial piercings are mandatory. Men must be clean-shaven for fit testing. Candidates must complete a pass-fail exam on the first day of orientation. All RNs will be expected to complete skills lab training, including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes. Nurses should maintain a sterile field during skills assessment. Candidates with limited competency in required skills may not be a good fit. Common diagnoses include epilepsy, brain tumors, subdural hematomas, scoliosis surgeries, and traumatic brain injuries. The unit has a total of 48 beds, with 10 specialty rooms. Shift ratios are 1:4 for both days and nights. A charge nurse is present with no patient assignment. Nurse aides are available to assist as needed. Weekend requirements are set at 3 shifts within a 4-week period. Holidays will be worked into the holiday rotation. Scrub colors required are Grey's Anatomy or Steel. Telemetry experience is necessary, as some telemetry duties are required. Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available 24/7. Floating to other units may be required based on staffing needs. Floor-specific orientation will consist of 2 shifts on the designated floor. Candidates must exhibit strong assessment skills to detect small changes in patients. Self-releasing velcro seat belts will be utilized instead of restraints. Cancellation policy allows for cancellations of up to 4 shifts during the assignment. Charting is conducted through a specific electronic health record system.
