Registered Nurse - Oncology

Job Description

Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse in Oncology provides specialized care to patients undergoing cancer treatments, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapies. The role involves administering medications, monitoring patient responses, and educating patients and their families about treatment and disease management.

Responsibilities:

• Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and injections per provider's orders.
• Access ports, PICC lines, and Hickman catheters for medication administration and lab draws.
• Perform venipuncture, dressing changes, and lab collections via ports and catheters.
• Document patient conditions, treatments, medications, and responses accurately and concisely.
• Monitor intravenous therapies and notify medical staff of any unusual occurrences or emergencies.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers on medications, side effects, disease process, nutrition, and activity adjustments.

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Demonstrate proficiency in oncology nursing, including medication administration and IV therapies.
• Have experience in venipuncture, port access, and catheter care.
• Knowledgeable in handling hazardous drugs and proper PPE usage.
• Proficient in Epic EMR or similar electronic medical record systems.
