JOB OVERVIEW Profession: Nurse Practitioner Specialty: Surgery Cardiothoracic Job Type: Locum Tenens Location: Flagstaff, AZ Service Setting: Hospital Coverage Type: Clinical + Call Coverage Period: Aug 10, 2026 – Aug 17, 2026 Clinical Shift Schedule: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM On-Call Shift Schedule: 3:00 PM – 7:00 AM (Weeknights) Call Type: Beeper Call Ratio: 1:1 PATIENT INFORMATION Patient Demographics: Adults, Geriatrics Patient Volume/Census: 10-15 CVICU/step down patients, plus 1-2 surgeries per day Case Mix: Cardiothoracic Surgery FACILITY INFORMATION No. of Beds in Department: 199 (Hospital) EMR System: Cerner Specialty Backup Available: Surgeon Support Staff Available: Surgeon Reason for Coverage: Supplemental Coverage PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE Hospital Privileges Required: Yes Credentialing Timeline: 30 days REQUIRED PROCEDURES Temporary Pacemaker Removal Chest Tube Removal IABP Removal Aline Placement Proficient with EVH (Endoscopic Vessel Harvesting) JOB REQUIREMENTS Licenses: Active AZ license Board: BC/BE in Physician Assistant DEA: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS (AHA) Experience: Minimum 3 years in cardiothoracic surgery with EVH DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Manage cardiothoracic surgical patients in CVICU and step-down units. Perform daily assessments, rounds, and order management for post-operative CT surgery patients. Provide surgical first assist in cardiothoracic surgeries, including opening and closing. Perform bedside procedures: temporary pacemaker, chest tube, IABP removal, and arterial line placement. Participate in weeknight beeper call coverage from 3:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
