The Donor Relations Manager plays a key role in advancing The Children's Cabinet's mission of keeping children safe and families together by building strong, lasting relationships with donors, Foundation Trustees, and corporate partners who believe in the power of our work.

In this relationship-focused role, you'll lead personalized donor engagement efforts, cultivate new supporters, and steward existing relationships to grow philanthropic investment in our mission. You'll work closely with organizational leadership and the Donor Relations Director to strengthen fundraising strategy, expand the donor pipeline, and help secure the resources that directly impact children and families across Nevada.

Duties

• Work closely with agency leadership and Donor Relations Director to meet goals in fundraising, donor retention, and new donor cultivation to fuel The Children's Cabinet's mission of keeping children safe and families together.
• Understand the agency's mission, overall goals, programs, and objectives to be able to effectively communicate to the public.
• Manage an active portfolio of major individual donors and corporate partners, maintaining clear engagement strategies and next steps for each relationship.
• Identify, qualify, and prioritize new major donor and corporate prospects through research, referrals, networking, and internal leads.
• Conduct discovery conversations and donor meetings to understand interests, capacity, and motivation, and align giving opportunities with organizational priorities.
• Develop cultivation and solicitation strategies tailored to each donor, including timing, messaging, and appropriate ask amounts.
• Prepare and deliver donor presentations, proposals, and solicitations that connect impact to giving opportunities and secure commitments.
• Secure major gifts, renewals, and upgrades from individuals and corporate partners, including multi-year commitments when appropriate.
• Work with Donor Relations Director to build personalized stewardship plans, ensuring meaningful follow-up, recognition, and impact communication for key donors.
• Coordinate internally with Programs, Finance, and Marketing to gather outcomes, budgets, and narratives needed for proposals and donor updates.
• Represent The Children's Cabinet in donor-facing settings, including tours, program visits, small-group cultivation opportunities, and community meetings.
• Partner with the Donor Relations Director on revenue strategy, donor planning, forecasting, and portfolio performance reporting.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the CRM, including contact reports, proposals, tasks, relationship context, and solicitation outcomes.
• Monitor giving trends within the portfolio, including upgrade potential, renewal timing, and lapsed donor risk; adjust strategies to strengthen retention.
• Track progress toward goals and report on portfolio activity and outcomes (meetings, proposals, solicitations, closes, renewals, and movement through stages).
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Needed

Skills and Knowledge:

• Strong relationship-building and networking skills with the ability to engage, influence, and maintain trust with donors, corporate leaders, and community partners.
• Knowledge of strategic relationship management, donor/customer engagement, and pipeline development.
• Excellent listening, written and verbal communication skills, including presentations, proposal writing, and persuasive storytelling.
• Strategic planning and time management skills with the ability to prioritize a portfolio and consistently follow through on goals.
• CRM proficiency and comfort using data, reporting, and analytics to inform strategy, forecast outcomes, and evaluate success.
• Microsoft Office Suite tools

Ability to

• Build authentic, long-term relationships with donors and community partners
• Make calls, drop by, and follow-up personally and professionally with donors, volunteers, leadership, staff, and community partners.
• Exercise sound judgment, integrity, discretion, and professionalism when handling confidential or sensitive information.
• Analyze donor and fundraising data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
• Independently organize and schedule appointments to assure that targets for number of personal visits and/or personal contacts are met each week.
• Work independently while also collaborating effectively across departments and with external stakeholders.
• Adapt to changing priorities, solve problems proactively, and consistently follow through on assignments and donor relationships.

Special Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience OR 10 years relevant work experience, preferably in nonprofit fundraising, sales, or a relationship management role. Major gifts/individual giving experience preferred.
• Be able to pass a background check.
• Must have a reliable vehicle to get to and from work, events, and errands.
• Must possess a valid Nevada Driver's license, proof of insurance for utilizing a personal vehicle for company business, and a clean driving record.
• Must be capable of fulfilling all the physical aspects of the job including but not limited to: being able to lift and carry 50 lbs.; able to walk up and down stairs, repetitive keystroking (initiating and responding to e-mails; typing copy, etc.)
• Ability to work evenings and weekends. Some travel required; office visits and/or training.
