Registered Nurse - Night Shift

Schedule

This is a full-time position with a night shift from 7 PM to 7 AM.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse coordinates and implements patient care specifically tailored to the age of the patient population served on the assigned unit. He/she ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the unit's standards of care, and demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy, and goals of the unit and organization.

Responsibilities

• Obtains and records initial assessments and establishes priorities according to patient age and psychosocial needs.
• Re-assesses patients systematically to identify progress and trends that require intervention.
• Develops and implements measurable individualized plans of care for patients within established timeframes.
• Makes comprehensive nursing decisions based on facts and evaluations of patient outcomes, modifying care plans as needed.
• Participates in health education and discharge planning for patients/significant others.
• Implements and documents timely interventions appropriate to patient needs.
• Evaluates the effectiveness of the plan of care.
• Performs various Point of Care testing procedures.
• Utilizes effective communication strategies and collaborates with healthcare teams to achieve unit and organizational goals.
• Promotes a positive work environment and participates in the orientation of new staff/students.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Graduate of an accredited program for Registered Nursing.
• Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state license.
• Current BLS Certification from AHA required.
• Current ACLS Certification from AHA required.
• Current TNCC Certification required.
• Knowledge of current practices and skills appropriate to the patient population served.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients and team members.
