About the Job Wound Care RN

As a Healthcare Staffing is seeking a knowledgeable and compassionate Wound Care Registered Nurse (RN) to provide specialized care for patients with acute and chronic wounds, pressure injuries, surgical wounds, ostomies, and related skin conditions. The Wound Care RN is responsible for comprehensive wound assessment, development of individualized care plans, and delivery of evidence-based wound care to support healing and improve patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct detailed assessments of all types of wounds, including pressure injuries, surgical wounds, diabetic ulcers, and traumatic wounds.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized wound care plans in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
• Provide direct wound treatment using advanced wound care modalities, dressings, and techniques.
• Educate patients and caregivers on wound care management, infection prevention, and skin integrity maintenance.
• Monitor wound progress and document changes, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Consult and collaborate with physicians, dietitians, physical therapists, and other specialists as needed.
• Participate in wound care rounds, quality assurance initiatives, and staff education programs.
• Ensure compliance with infection control standards, safety protocols, and organizational policies.
• Act as a resource and mentor to nursing staff regarding best practices in wound and skin care.

Qualifications:

• Required:
  • Active RN license in [State] or compact licensure.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in wound care or a related field.
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Preferred:
  • WOCN or WCC certification (Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurse or Wound Care Certified).
  • Experience in long-term care, home health, surgical, or acute care settings.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems and wound imaging software.

Working Conditions:

• May involve walking, standing, and bending for extended periods.
• Exposure to bodily fluids, wound exudate, and infectious diseases.
• Requires attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple patients and priorities.
