Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) – Night Shift Travel Nursing Contract in La Plata, Maryland

Travel RN Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,110–$2,220
• Location: La Plata, Maryland
• Assignment Type: 13-week Emergency Department travel nursing contract
• Start Date: November 16, 2026
• Shift: Night shift, 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week; 36 hours per week, with a 36/48-hour option
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Holidays as scheduled
• Patient Population: Neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
• Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:4
• Daily Census: Approximately 130 visits
• Floating: Required within the nurse’s specialty and scope of practice
• Call: No prescheduled on-call requirement
• Charting: Epic experience preferred

Emergency Department RN Job Requirements

• Active Maryland RN license or compact RN license at the time of submission
• At least 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience preferred; nurses with at least 1 year of strong ED experience may be considered following review
• Community hospital experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association
• Current NIHSS certification
• Current CPI certification
• Strong clinical judgment and the ability to care for patients with complex and rapidly changing conditions
• Comfort working night shifts, weekends, holidays, and in a high-volume emergency setting

Emergency Department Travel Nurse Responsibilities

• Perform rapid assessments, triage, reassessments, and emergency interventions for patients of all ages
• Provide safe, individualized care for medical, surgical, trauma, behavioral health, and pediatric emergencies
• Manage patients requiring cardiac monitoring, respiratory support, procedural sedation, emergency medications, and IV therapies
• Recognize and respond to time-sensitive conditions including stroke, STEMI, sepsis, dysrhythmias, respiratory compromise, overdose, seizures, and multisystem organ dysfunction
• Initiate and maintain IV access, administer blood products and medications, and manage central lines and chest tubes within scope
• Obtain and interpret 12-lead ECGs and support the evaluation of abnormal laboratory and diagnostic findings
• Assist with airway management, intubation, ventilated patient care, and BiPAP/CPAP management as indicated
• Provide trauma-informed care and safely manage patients experiencing behavioral health crises or violent behavior
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, social services, rapid response teams, and other interdisciplinary partners
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, reassessments, and patient outcomes in the electronic medical record
