4-Day Work Week (4x10) - Auto Body Painter

Job Description

Job Description

Auto Body Painter | 4-Day Work Week | $75K–$150K a Year | Port Orchard, WA

CARSTAR Murray’s in Port Orchard is hiring an Auto Body Painter to run our paint department. You won’t be one of five painters fighting over booth time. Here you’ll be the go-to paint tech, managing your own workflow from prep to final clear and seeing every job through to delivery.

Murray’s Collision Group is a family-owned collision repair company that has served the Puget Sound since 1984. We’re big enough to offer real benefits and steady work across multiple locations, and small enough that your name and your work matter. If you’re an auto painter in Kitsap County tired of long commutes across the water or weekend shifts, this is a role worth a look.

Why painters choose us

• 4-day work week. A 4x10 schedule is available, so you get three-day weekends every week and never work weekend shifts.
• Real earning power. Painters here earn $75,000 to $150,000 a year on flat rate, based on skill, quality and experience. A painter in the middle of our range who flags 2 hours for every hour worked can earn around $100,000 a year on a 40-hour week. Great painters earn even more.
• 4.8 stars on Google. Customers regularly praise our paint quality, and you’ll be the painter behind it.
• Benefits. Medical, dental and vision insurance, life insurance, a 401(k) with a 2% employer match, and paid holidays and PTO.
• Training. Ongoing training and I-CAR support.
• Facility. A clean, modern shop with quality tools and equipment.

What you’ll be doing

• Refinishing vehicles to OEM and factory specifications, from prep through final clear coat
• Mixing, tinting and color matching with a waterborne basecoat system
• Blending panels and applying primer, sealer, basecoat and clear coat
• Sanding, masking and prepping vehicles for paint
• Managing paint inventory and keeping supplies stocked and organized
• Maintaining the spray booth, mixing room and equipment
• Following OSHA safety guidelines and wearing required PPE, including a respirator
• Updating the shop management system as vehicles move through refinish
• Taking part in daily production meetings

What we’re looking for

• 1+ year of experience as an automotive painter, refinish technician or collision paint tech
• Strong color matching, blending and topcoat skills to OEM standards
• Waterborne paint experience is a plus. We’ll support your training if you’re coming from solvent or another paint line.
• I-CAR Platinum or ASE Refinish certification preferred but not required
• Organized, detail oriented and comfortable working independently
• Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record
