Distribution Center Maintenance Technician

Petco Maintenance TechnicianEnsure the proper operation and maintenance of all rolling stock, machinery, equipment and in the facility. This position is also responsible for the day to day maintenance and upkeep of the interior and exterior of the facility.Essential Job Functions:Assess equipment and recommend an appropriate course of action.Interact professionally and effectively through verbal and written communication with all professional contacts with an emphasis on the Company's interests.Maintain and repair powered material handling equipment, pick carousels, conveyors and other automation equipment.Frequently lift up to 50 pounds.Duties and Responsibilities:Troubleshoot escalated technical problems and complex mechanical issues including; repairing material handling equipment such as forklifts and warehouse equipment such as picking carousels, conveyors, shrink-wrap machines and inventory racks.Perform repair and maintenance duties to the interior and exterior building structure including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, framing, roofing, painting, and other general construction.Perform preventive maintenance of rolling stock and equipment as requiredObserve and promote established safety procedures.Prioritizes maintenance of red tagged equipment.Assist in physical inventories as required.May perform other projects and tasks as assigned.Nature of Supervision:Minimal instruction is provided on some, but not all tasks to be performed, and work is periodically checked or inspected upon completion. In addition, some tasks and projects may be assigned which may last several days or longer without direct supervision, and only general direction or guidance may be provided in order to check completion status, quality of work and adherence to specifications.Supervisory Responsibility:Although this position generally does not directly supervise other partners, this position may provide functional guidance, work direction and training to lower level Maintenance Technicians.Educational Background:The minimum educational background is a high school diploma or its equivalent (GED), and either a technical degree or certification in industrial maintenance or related field is required.Previous Experience:A minimum of 3 years of related experience is required. Position requires prior experience performing repairs and preventative maintenance on powered industrial equipment such as material handling equipment and automation systems such as conveyance and sortation systems, PLCs, and other related equipment. Experience in a warehousing or manufacturing environment is preferred.Work Environment:In addition to extensive walking, bending, stooping and climbing, the nature of this position entails constant exposure to heat, cold, dirt, dust, fumes, and noise within the warehouse. While some job duties may occasionally be conducted outdoors, the majority of work is performed indoors. Risk of injury in this type of work should not be overlooked.Contacts:Contacts are primarily with the immediate supervisor and employees within the warehouse and generally involve the routine exchange of information. Routinely communicates with vendors and contractors.Salary Range: $17.90 - $29.45
