Daily stress and exposure to potentially dangerous situations, such as, physical attack, are an inherent part of the position. The Wayne County Correctional Facility is a 24 hour, 7 days per week operation and as such various shift work schedules may be applicable to this position.Miscellaneous InformationEssential Job Functions • Supervise offenders in housing units and those segregated for administrative or punitive measures • Instruct inmates in housekeeping and sanitation • Make periodic patrols of quarters and work areas • Patrols the internal and external perimeters of the Facility • Initiate counts of offenders at regular and irregular intervals • Maintains control and discipline, including the use of physical restraint • Prevent the introduction of contraband • Monitor, supervise, and screen visitation traffic • Maintain and demonstrate proficiency in the use and care of firearms • Maintain proper security of inmates being transported
