The pharmacy technician will cover inpatient pharmacy and all areas of the facility. Common duties include preparing batches and refilling automated dispensing cabinets, compounding sterile and nonsterile products, and compounding hazardous medications. The technician will field phone calls and deliver medications directly to nursing units. They will also be responsible for unit-dosing medications from stock bottles for patient administration. This position requires experience in an inpatient hospital setting, and IV compounding is essential. The pharmacy technician will be the only technician on duty overnight with one pharmacist. The shift is organized in a 7-on, 7-off rotation. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend, including holidays if the schedule overlaps. The medication dispensing system utilized is automated. Scrubs are required, with the department color specified. Orientation and specific training will be provided.
