Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Full-Time | Days | 12-hour shifts, 07:00–19:30; Night option 19:00–07:30 | Every other weekend required | Holiday rotation required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to medical-surgical patients with diagnoses including pneumonia, heart failure, sepsis, COPD, urologic conditions, surgical cases, total joints, general surgery, and occasional pediatric respiratory illness
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5 on days; collaborate closely with Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) through structured daily touchpoints (3x per shift) focusing on foley care, CHG bathing, and oral cares
• Monitor and interpret telemetry strips using Phillips monitoring system, supported by virtual central telemetry monitoring
• Oversee and collaborate with PCTs to ensure patient cares are completed and incorporate plan-of-care updates into each touchpoint
• Manage patients on high-flow oxygen and stable home-regimen BiPAP as needed
• May be required to float to the ICU for general acute overflow patients or to a campus approximately 25 miles away to meet staffing needs; float assignments to the off-site campus will be communicated at least 2 hours prior to shift start

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• Ability to work in a drug-free environment and produce a negative drug screen for all panels
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible at the standard contract rate

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience preferred, ideally in a medical-surgical setting
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• PALS certification preferred
• Strong teamwork and communication skills with demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with PCT staff
