Position Overview:

Our Prep Cooks are responsible for completing prep lists that aid in the preparation of a range of culinary delights from eclectic to classic that include vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and meat-loving options. These items are part of our hot bar, a la carte program, deli cases, as well as our “grab and go” case. Our Prep team is also responsible for cleanliness of the kitchen, and assists with ensuring a clean and well-stocked salad station, as necessary.

Pay: $16.00 - $18.75 per hour (previous experience will be taken into consideration). This is a tipped position. Base pay is $16.00–$18.75 per hour, plus tips.

Shift Availability: 11am-7:30pm Monday through Friday, weekend availability required

Location: 222 Dorset Street, South Burlington, VT

Requirements

EDUCATION

DEGREE: High School Diploma/GED Preferred

EXPERIENCE

• At least 1 year of professional kitchen experience or other equivalent food industry experience. \

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Prep

• Ensures prep lists are completed; prep lists include but are not limited to tasks such as: washing and slicing fruits/vegetables, slicing & portioning meats/cheeses, making basic sauces, along with other necessary cafe items
• Assists in cleaning the kitchen to include: counter tops, sweeping and mopping the floor, and cleaning of equipment
• Ensures a fresh and appealing salad bar display; keeps the salad bar clean, well-stocked and properly rotated; checks and ensures freshness and quality of products and helps in breakdown at closing, as needed

Café Standards

• Follows and complies with established recipes and brand standards
• Maintains an in-depth knowledge of products; shares knowledge with others (guests and team members)
• Follows and complies with all state and NSF guidelines of sanitation
• Communicates in a timely manner with supervisor/manager regarding all needs
• Follows all established procedures to meticulously clean station at end of the shift
• Labels, dates and rotates all product per department protocol
• Focuses on quality control and order accuracy to provide the best service for our guests
• Willing and able to assist other areas as assigned by the manager/supervisor
• Brings ideas and suggestions to manager/supervisor in order to keep up with trends and to continually innovate café offerings following all café protocols for introducing new products
• Goes the extra mile for customers and maintains the highest standards of courteous, professional customer service and sensitivity to customer’s and co-workers needs
