About the Role:

A well-established civil litigation defense law firm is seeking a Senior Construction Attorney with 10+ years of insurance defense experience to join its growing practice in Hartford, CT. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced attorney with a strong background in construction and insurance defense litigation who is comfortable managing matters independently from inception through settlement or trial.

The successful candidate will handle a diverse range of litigation matters while working closely with clients, opposing counsel and other legal professionals. This position offers remote flexibility, meaningful responsibility and opportunities for long-term professional growth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Defend a variety of insurance defense matters involving general liability, personal injury, product liability and professional liability.
• Handle construction-related litigation matters from suit inception through settlement or trial.
• Manage cases independently and develop effective litigation strategies.
• Draft and review motions, legal memoranda, pleadings and other litigation documents.
• Summarize depositions and evaluate case-related evidence.
• Prepare matters for hearings, settlement negotiations and trial.
• Conduct legal research and provide strategic legal advice.
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, experts and other parties.
• Manage multiple cases, deadlines and competing priorities.
• Provide practical solutions to complex litigation issues.

Required Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• 10+ years of relevant insurance defense experience.
• Strong experience in construction litigation preferred.
• Experience handling general liability, personal injury, product liability or professional liability matters.
• Experience drafting motions and legal memoranda.
• Strong deposition review and trial preparation experience.
• Ability to manage matters independently from inception through settlement or trial.
• Active Connecticut Bar admission required.
• Massachusetts, Rhode Island or New Hampshire Bar admission is a plus.
• Ability to transfer UBE scores or waive into additional jurisdictions is preferred.
• Multiple state bar admissions are highly desirable.
• Excellent legal writing, research, analytical and communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys and staff.
