GWA is an independent, Pre-K-12, independent, college-preparatory school located on 61 beautiful acres in Monroe, Georgia, less than one hour from the state capitol of Atlanta. At George Walton Academy, the Place for Academic Reinforcement and Coaching (PARC) is a student-centered program that is dedicated to creating independent learners for lifelong academic success. The PARC was designed to extend educational and support services to K4 - twelfth grade students.George Walton Academy seeks a Middle School PARC Coach for the 2026-2027 school year. Reporting to the Director of the PARC, the Coach will work closely with the PARC staff and students, with an emphasis on collaborating with colleagues to set our students up for success. Position OverviewThe PARC Academic Support Coach works directly with middle school students to develop academic skills, study strategies, and learning habits that promote success. This position bridges the gap between subject-matter teaching and personalized student support, focusing on building core academic competencies and student self-efficacy.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide small group academic coaching to middle school studentsDevelop individualized learning plans based on student needs and learning stylesTeach effective study skills, time management, and organizational strategiesMonitor student progress and adjust support strategies accordinglyCollaborate with classroom teachers to align support with curriculum goalsAssist students with goal setting and accountability systemsWork with students to develop self-advocacy and communication skillsSupport students with executive functioning challengesMaintain detailed records of student meetings and progressCommunicate regularly with families and facultyQualificationsBachelor 's Degree in Education, Special Education, or related field (Candidates with a Master's Degree are preferred)Three or more years experience teaching middle school math and scienceThree or more years experience working with students in an academic support settingStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to connect with and motivate diverse student populationsDetail-oriented with strong organizational skillsExceptional candidates will have experience teaching and developing skills related to executive functioningKnowledge of diverse learning styles and evidence-based learning strategiesSkills & AttributesFamiliarity with educational technology and digital learning toolsTraining in special education or learning differences Experience with executive functioning coachingEmpathetic listener who builds rapport with students and familiesPatient and encouraging approach to working with studentsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentCommitment to ethical teaching practices and student confidentialityBackground in academic counseling or tutoringWorking Hours & BenefitsFull-time position, 10 month employee Competitive salary and benefits packageProfessional development opportunities and continuing education support
