Deputy Court Clerk

Position: Deputy Court Clerk Program Coordinator Division: Municipal Court Rate of Pay: $15.00 (+)/hr Nature of Work: Work involves the performance of technical clerical functions. Incumbent must apply independent judgement and interpret routine policies and regulations. Examples of Work: Collects, sorts, and files court cases associated with community service and partial pay. Issues court summons and late due notices as required. Inputs information for traffic, parking, criminal citations, complaints, and other criminal/traffic matters into the computer. Schedule monthly partial payment plans for qualifying defendants. Prepare documents for cases that will be sent to the collection agency. Assists judge with defendants who qualify for community service. Greet visitors and directs general public to appropriate area. Applies non‑cash credit for defendants as they complete community service. Opens and verifies mail. Coordinate with outside entities across the City of Hattiesburg for community service placements. Assisting and responding to inquiries from attorneys, judicial officers, the law enforcement community and the general public; Exemplifies excellent customer service skills and integrity Must work well with co‑workers and public Performs related work as required. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: High School Diploma or G.E.D, plus two (2) years court clerical experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to type 35+ wpm. Must have and maintain a valid MS Driver’s License. Clerical skills testing: You will be required to successfully pass a typing test. Bonding Requirements: Although the City of Hattiesburg will pay for Bonding, you must be able to successfully pass bonding requirements. #J-18808-Ljbffr
