Truss Designer

A growing manufacturer of floor and roof trusses is seeking a skilled Truss Designer with extensive experience in multi-family and commercial truss design using MiTek software. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with sales, production, and quality teams on a variety of residential and light commercial projects.

Employment Type: Full time / On site

Key Responsibilities

Design roof and floor trusses for single-family, multi-family, and light commercial projects
Use MiTek software to generate layouts and 3D models
Size and specify EWP and hanger connections as needed
Coordinate closely with sales, production, and quality teams
Manage RFIs and collaborate with external stakeholders to resolve design issues
Maintain clean and organized digital files using file server navigation
Ensure accurate, code-compliant, and efficient truss layouts
Communicate clearly and concisely with clients, teammates, and management
Provide technical support for customers and internal teams
Work both independently and collaboratively to meet design deadlines

Required Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of truss design experience
Proficient with Alpine (required)
Comfortable reading and interpreting construction documents
Strong math skills and attention to detail
Experience with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, etc.)
"Get-it-done" mindset with proven project delivery
Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines
High school diploma or GED (required)

Preferred Qualifications

CAD and architectural design background is a plus
Degree from a 4-year accredited university (preferred)

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
Navigate stairs as needed
Close and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to focus required
