Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg (Behavioral Health)

Location: Birmingham, AL

Shift: 3x12 Nights

Contract Length: 13 Weeks

Pay Range: $1,585.64 – $1,865.46 / week

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Med/Surg Registered Nurse with Behavioral Health experience for a 13-week travel contract in Birmingham, AL. In this role, you will provide specialized care for medical-surgical patients who also present with behavioral health needs (MPIU-PM unit).

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver direct nursing care to medical-surgical patients requiring specialized behavioral health support.
• Perform ongoing patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and implement comprehensive nursing care plans.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and clinical treatments safely and accurately.
• Collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team of physicians, psychiatrists, and allied health staff.
• Document clinical progress, respond to status changes, and advocate for patient safety and well-being.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Active RN License (Alabama or eNLC Compact License in hand).
• Certifications: Current BLS required.
• Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of recent Med/Surg, Behavioral Health, or Psych experience preferred.
• Schedule: 3x12 night shifts.
