About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical/Surgical Duration: 14 weeks Shift: 3 shifts of 11.5 hours each Hours per Shift: 11.5 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: RN Certifications: BLS required; ACLS and Board Certification preferred Must-Have: BSN; skilled in managing a variety of surgical patients including orthopedic, vascular, urology, and bariatric cases; competent in ventilation/tracheostomy, gastrostomy tubes, and wound care management. Description: Utilize the nursing process in the provision of direct patient care. Responsible and accountable for prescribing, delegating, and coordinating all care provided to assigned patients. Delivery of care is based on established standards and policies. Diagnose and treat responses to actual and potential health problems through case finding, health teaching, health counseling, and provision of supportive or restorative care. Supervise patient care provided by licensed practical nurses, registered nurses on permit, nursing attendants, technicians, and Client staff. Assess the immediate and continuing care needs of the patient and their significant others. Develop comprehensive and current plans of care addressing physical, teaching, discharge planning, and psychosocial/spiritual needs. Provide direct patient care based on assessed needs and medical regimens. Oversee and ensure the provision of all aspects of care for the patient. Supervise the care provided by other nursing personnel as defined in the scope of practice. Observe, evaluate, document, and communicate to relevant team members the patient's response to illness and therapeutic modalities. Ensure timely reassessment of patient responses to treatment and significant changes in patient condition. Coordinate the overall plan of care to ensure implementation of nursing interventions and consistency with the medical regimen. Establish priorities for care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. Accept responsibility and accountability for nursing interventions and outcomes based on professional clinical judgments. Participate in quality improvement activities related to patient care delivery and the development of nursing standards. Demonstrate effective communication, appropriate management of stressful situations, and facilitate interpersonal relationships with other disciplines. Participate in the orientation of nursing staff. Assume charge responsibilities as delegated. Ensure appropriate coverage of all patients by assisting and relieving coworkers. Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for patients and staff. Serve as a clinical resource for student nurses. Participate in meetings, committees, conferences, and educational programs. Engage in research and pilot projects supported by the nursing department. Demonstrate responsibility for continuing professional growth and education by attending programs and pursuing further education. Participate in professional and community organizations.
