Nurse Supervisor

Purpose of the Position Supervise nursing staff in the daily activities associated with supporting plant employees and plant operations, including administering first aid, processing medical paperwork, conducting physical exams and urine tests for substance abuse testing, dispensing over‑the‑counter medication, and following worker’s compensation procedures. Essential Position Responsibilities Lead and train nursing staff to maintain discipline, teamwork, and safety, and to complete required paperwork and recordkeeping. Provide nursing care and activities such as walk‑in first aid, emergency response, and necessary drug screens for pre‑employment and current employees. Process OSHA, insurance, and plant operations paperwork, file insurance claims, and complete incident reports and investigations. Communicate with employees, management, physicians, doctors, and hospitals regarding medical and worker’s compensation claims. Direct, supervise, and evaluate employee work performance; collaborate with Human Resources on hiring, disciplinary actions, and compensation decisions. Participate as a member of the team, contribute to development and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies, and foster team cohesiveness. Support Simmons operating systems principles and objectives, including quality, security, office environment, company policies, and LEAN. Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives. Technical Experience & Qualifications Minimum of 2 years direct nursing experience plus at least 1 year in a supervisory role. Current Registered Nurse license in a practicing state. Current certification in first aid, CPR, or First Responder; otherwise ability to obtain. Proficiency in personal computer use, MS Word, and Excel. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field; preference for experience in poultry or food processing organizations. Physical and Travel Requirements Enter, locate, and verify information on a computer; communicate via telephone, in‑person, and electronic mail. May present information to small or large groups; work in varying temperatures and a manufacturing environment. Domestic travel to and from multiple facilities or work sites.
