Job Description

This role focuses on building, assembling, repairing, and troubleshooting industrial machinery and equipment. You will use mechanical and electrical skills to interpret blueprints and assembly drawings, fabricate parts, perform mechanical and electrical assembly, and ensure machinery operates safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret instructions, mechanical assembly drawings, schematics, and blueprints to build machinery accurately.
  • Perform mechanical assembly and disassembly of machinery components, ensuring proper fit, alignment, and function.
  • Repair defective parts on machinery and rebuild equipment as needed to restore optimal performance.
  • Use tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and tolerances.
  • Fabricate parts using machine shop instrumentation and equipment, following established specifications.
  • Perform electrical assembly and wiring, including control panel wiring, according to schematics and safety standards.
  • Build and assemble industrial machinery, including complex systems that incorporate hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively during assembly, fabrication, and repair tasks.
  • Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including installation, adjustment, and maintenance.
  • Lift and move components and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds as part of daily tasks.
  • Work within confined spaces when required to access machinery components.
  • Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and contribute to a safe, efficient production environment.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical assembly drawings, and schematics.
  • Strong mechanical assembly skills, including machine building and component installation.
  • Proficiency using tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instrumentation.
  • Experience in repairing or building industrial machinery and equipment.
  • Experience with electrical wiring and control panel wiring for machinery.
  • Hands-on experience with hydraulic systems, including installation and troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience with pneumatic systems, including installation and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to troubleshoot root causes of mechanical and electrical issues and trace problems through systems.
  • Competence using hand tools and power tools for assembly, fabrication, and repair.
  • Capability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Comfort working in confined spaces when needed.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions and safety procedures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience building machinery, preferably CNC equipment.
  • Formal training in mechanical assembly or machining.
  • Familiarity with hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical assembly in a production environment.
  • Experience working with machine shop instrumentation and fabrication equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a noisy production setting with multiple machines operating.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn and grow with evolving equipment and processes.

Work Environment

This position is based in a production facility that operates over 150 EDM machines, with temperature control in most production areas. The environment can be loud due to active machinery, and you must be comfortable working in confined spaces when required. The role involves frequent lifting and moving of items up to 50 pounds. Proper use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) is essential. The schedule follows a day shift: Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cincinnati, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
